Role; Renewable Energy or Logistics recruitment consultant (1 – 5 years ideally)

Salary; £25K to £35K base + commission / yearly bonuses

Location; Southend-on-Sea, Essex

Job Summary / Purpose:

To identify and contact suitable clients and candidates (both existing and new), understand their respective needs , and then meet or exceed their requirements through marketing and delivering quality recruitment services whilst continually meeting agreed targets and complying with the companies procedures and Minimum Acceptable Standards (MAS).

Primary Objectives

  • Earn revenue for the companies by matching quality candidates with suitable clients
  • Build and maintain a loyal and profitable client base
  • Identify business opportunities and raise the market’s awareness of the companies capabilities by continual contact with a wide range of clients and candidates
  • Proactively share relevant information and expertise with division and company colleagues
  • Deliver an outstanding customer service experience to clients and candidates
  • Adhere to an agreed personal Quarterly Business Plan (QBP) to ensure that division and company business plans and objectives are exceeded

Main Duties and Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Advertising/Marketing/Sales Activities

  • New business generation:

o Sell the companies services to new and existing clients via telephone and face-to-face meetings

o Cross sell other business areas to your clients

  • Deal with speculative calls, aftercare and service calls
  • Write proposal documents and tenders and issue Terms of Business
  • Negotiate fees and other terms in line with Company policy
  • Write and place copy for client requirements on the company’s website and in trade journals and other websites
  • Using company guidelines and templates, set up and maintain social media channels to attract candidates and promote the brand
  • Regularly attend industry networking, marketing and recruitment events
  • Offer and subscribe clients to Company newsletter and Candidate Bulletins

Client Management

  • Develop and maintain progressive relationships with the existing client base and new clients through regular value-based telephone conversations
  • Secure face-to-face meetings with clients to build knowledge, establish rapport and powerfully present the benefits of working with the companies as a specialist and with you as an expert/individual
  • Expand network of contacts within existing client base, through referrals and written testimonials to maximise cross-selling opportunities
  • Qualify clients by compiling key information – decision makers, the number of employees, the size of the fleet, parent company and other associated companies, global office locations, operating markets, etc.
  • Qualify every requirement presented by the client – record accurate and comprehensive job description and remuneration details – check client requirements in line with key processes and legislation and pass requirements to colleagues where appropriate.
  • Within the parameters agreed by your manager, negotiate key aspects of the terms and conditions with the client – fees, retainer, rebate scale, payment terms, etc. – and document any amendments to standard terms and conditions
  • Manage client expectations during the recruitment process to ensure a fast, streamlined and productive result
  • Provide clients with honest and accurate candidate interview profiles that relate to client needs
  • Provide an after-sales service by completing progress checks on placed candidates and assignment completions and reviews

Candidate Management

  • Build and maintain an appropriate candidate base through searching the company’s database, networking, headhunting and contacting candidates referred by the Associate Consultant and other colleagues
  • Match candidate skill sets and expectations to existing requirements and potential requirements where candidates are scarce – shortlist and/or market candidates to suitable clients
  • Negotiate key aspects of the recruitment process with candidates (e.g. remuneration, start date)
  • Qualify quality candidates for suitability and motivation to move by pre-screening them
  • Conduct a full telephone (or face-to-face) interview before submitting a candidate to clients in order to gain an accurate understanding of skill sets, experience, strengths, weaknesses, achievements, capabilities, motivation to move, availability and expectations
  • Coach candidates on interview skills and skills testing
  • Provide information to candidates on clients and client requirements
  • Prepare candidate profiles ensuring that they are of a high standard and, where appropriate, tailor them to reflect specific client requirements
  • Ensure candidates are fully briefed and updated during the whole recruitment lifecycle

General

  • Agree on quarterly targets with line manager, produce a QBP, and plan activity and prioritise tasks on a weekly and daily basis to achieve quarterly targets set
  • Understand the policies and procedures contained in the Employee Handbook and work within the spirit of the companies culture and vision
  • Co-operate and share relevant information with other members of the division
  • Build and maintain a good knowledge of the Shipping Industry and recruitment best practice in order to provide outstanding customer service
  • Undertake other duties as may be necessary for running an effective and efficient recruitment desk.
  • Complete associated administrative duties, including identification, verification of qualifications, tracking references, raising invoices, confirming that a candidate has commenced employment, etc
  • Record all activity and information gathered (verbal and written) in the company database (ITRIS), in Activity Sheets and in other documentation as required
  • Update and maintain client and candidate information on ITRIS and ensure all records are kept in line with legislative requirements
